Keep Calm and Do the Blue!

In raging summers, we look for anything and everything that has a cooling effect. Summer is, therefore, the season of ice creams, mint and lemon mocktails, cucumber salads, chilled watermelons and, of course, clothing that can help us beat the heat. When I think of the hues I’d like to be clad in during the maddening summer months, I can only think of blue, blue and more blue.

Blue is the colour of tranquility, freshness and the sea. And ladies, it is also THE colour to bag this season. The 3 shades of blue that are part of the Pantone Fashion Colour Report  SS’16 are Serenity, Snorkel Blue and Limpet Shell.

I, too, am digging all shades of blue and here are 15 prêt/luxury prêt labels that have used various tones of blue to help us do it right this summer.

Ayesha Khurram

This powder blue top with silver and pearl embellishment is just the right item for formal iftar parties and Eid. The silky fabric gives the shirt an icy, cooling shimmer! I’d even wear it to a dholak. And if you live in Karachi, then it will also do as wedding wear.

This one is for more casual GTs. It’s a darker blue, yes, but the fabric looks cool, the shorter sleeves look trendy and the white embroidery gives the shirt a cooling pop. Pairing it with a white tulip shalwar creates the perfect summer look!

Misha Lakhani

How breezy is this beautiful blue wrap? And I am loving the waist hugging silhouette created by the leather belt.  Paired with a dhoti shalwar, this outfit is the ultimate example of fusion. This shade of blue, by the way, is also the Pantone colour of the year for 2016. It is Serenity for sure!

REMA by Shehrbano and Rema

This one is simple, yet so trendy, sporting the very in peplum sleeves. Paired with boot leg pants, the flared silhouette is so summery and so fun!

Another blue piece that I love at REMA is this Pakistani shadow work top with lace appliqué on the daaman. Isn't it perfect for warm summer days?

Farida Hasan

If there is one designer who knows how to be innovative yet keeping the style comfortable and wearable, it is definitely Farida Hasan. I am loving this all-blue outfit that will be up for sale at the Farida Hasan Exhibition on the 15th of June in Karachi, 16th of June in Lahore and on the 20th of June in Islamabad. Hit the ATM and go grab this!

Mahgul

We have seen some great looking blue tops from this young designer’s label. There is so much variety in blue Mahgul has to offer – from structured tops to belted ones, from embroidered detailing to simple boy shirts, you will find it all at this stop.  Have a look at some of the most interesting summer pieces from Mahgul!

Generation

Generation’s been producing some really amazing options for the hot season and look what they’ve got now! Denim tops! These look super edgy and I am drooling.  I think I am am going to pay Generation a visit after iftari today before these denim tops run out.

Another item in blue that I simply loved at their store is this – cropped culottes in the lightest shade of blue and the unique cut instantly reminded me of Thai fisherman pants. Did I buy them? Yes. Obviously. I pair them with the plain white short kurta.

BOHO by Sania

Oh Em Gee. I love all the blue stuff BOHO has to offer. Chic, contemporary and and simple. I want to get them all. 3 shades of blue and 3 different ways to rock the trending off-shoulder. Check out their Instagram page ASAP and stock your wardrobe with these great pieces now.

Daaman

Daaman is one of my favourite brands and it never fails to impress me. This top, with its sea green base and blue floral digital print is totally soothing for the eyes. It is just the right thing to wear during the super hot summer days.

Khaadi

Blue is in, so are boyfriend kurtas and block colours are a good break from those suffocating prints. This one’s for you if you want to sport a plainer, smarter summer look.

Sapphire

Sapphire’s got some blue boyfriend kurtas too. This one has some detailing on the neckline and a front pocket.

Blocked Textiles

This one has just stolen my heart. The shade of blue, the block printed butterflies, the block print around the pockets, the chikan on the daaman and the flowey cut add up to create the most amazing summer look! Isn’t this simply irresistible?

Suffuse by Hina Yasir

If you’re into florals, this one’s for you. Lavishly embroidered and super feminine, this one would be an ideal choice for a July Eid. I love it! Everything about this outfit is summery.

Wajood

I want this, want this, want this!  Wouldn’t this gorgeous powder blue outfit be ideal for dholaks and dinners that you have to attend this season? I am loving the mix of fabrics and laces and the embroidery is just so pretty.

Ashoo & Montaha

For those who are craving block colours, this one’s it. The white lace and pearl detailing stand out on this navy blue swiss voile top. Paired with white tulip pants, this is the perfect look for SS’16.  I have already placed an order for this beauty!

Ombre by Zahira

We have seen a lot of flamingos everywhere this spring/summer but this lovely blue flamingo top has still found a way to my heart! It's been love at first sight (*drool*). And would you believe that those beautiful flamingos are embroidered and not printed?! This one's definitely going on my wish list.
