5 Multani Pottery Inspired Items We Love

Go Blue

Multan, the city of saints and Sohan Halwa, is also the land of great artisans. The history of Multani ceramic art, also known as Kashikari, is as old as the history of this beautiful city itself. Multani blue tiles have been used to decorate various Sufi shrines, mosques and modern buildings across Pakistan. Some of our favourite buildings which use Multani tiles in their facades and interiors include the Shrine of Sachal Sarmast in Khairpur, Eidgah in Multan, the shrine of Bibi Jawindi in Uch Sharif near Bahawalpur and the Royal Graveyard in Cholistan.
The ancient Multani blue pottery has not only inspired architects through centuries but also various textile designers, jewellers and home décor stores in our country have drawn inspiration from the beautiful hues of blue.
Here are five Pakistani items that we think are the best celebration of Multani ceramic art:

Lawn print by Sapphire

This easy breezy print from Sapphire’s Eid Lawn Collection will remind you of the soft scent of Delphiniums! Paired with crisp white boot-leg pants and adorned with lace and pearls on the sleeves, this one’s fresh and perfect for the summers.

Khussas from Chapter 13

How lovely are these Multani Pottery inspired Khussas? Accessorising an all white chikankari  ensemble with a string of firoza stones and this cute pair of khussas will definitely make all those around you go ‘Whoa’! Do not miss this summer style!

Earrings from Ottoman Jewels

Aren’t these beyond lovely? This pair of earrings will help you elevate any ethnic look. Don’t forget silver metal bangles and tilla Kohlapuris to get a 10/10 on the style test!

Condiment platter from Clayworks

How about talking about some Kashikari inspired home ware? We love this condiment platter from Clayworks. It is a perfect blend of contemporary design and a traditional colour palette. There are so many ways to use this piece to entertain your guests – you can fill in the four sections with different kinds of dry fruits, a variety of small chocolates, or Nimco and slims! You can even serve hummus with olives, cucumbers and dried bread.

Tea set by Inaya

Okay, these are drop dead gorgeous! Next time you host a committee party for your friends, serve tea in this beautiful kashikari inspired tea set and we promise you, they shall all be singing praises of your good taste.
